You can check the version you have by typing version at the S-PLUS command line. Information on the previous release is also available.

Getting Started

Instructions on how install S-PLUS 6.2 can be found on the CD-ROM in the file INSTALL.TXT. S-PLUS 6.2 can be installed alongside an existing installation of S-PLUS 6.1 or earlier. It is not necessary to uninstall any previous version of S-PLUS.

The new features in S-PLUS 6.2 for Unix improve upon S-PLUS 6.1 in three main areas: native drivers, verbose logging, and XML generation and reporting. There are also a number of enhancements to existing functions.

Please read the Release Notes to learn more about the new features in S-PLUS 6.2. You can find them on the CD-ROM in the file RELNOTES.TXT. Documentation about the new features is also available as technical papers in PDF format in the doc/tech_papers directory where S-PLUS 6.2 is installed.

Before you start using S-PLUS, we suggest reading the Getting Started Guide. For new users, it includes a step-by-step tutorial on reading, visualizing and analyzing data in S-PLUS, and for long-time S-PLUS users it describes features new to S-PLUS 6.

The Getting Started Guide was included with your copy of S-PLUS, and can be found in the doc subdirectory of the S-PLUS installation directory as the file getstart.pdf. You can find the location of the S-PLUS installation directory by typing Splus6 SHOME at the shell prompt.
