Course Description

What's new is S-PLUS 8 course is designed to bring experienced users of the S-PLUS 7.0, S-PLUS 6.2, and S-PLUS 2000 product lines into this new framework. Top on the list of topics is improving productivity using the S-PLUS 8.0 Workbench, an Integrated Development Environment containing the latest in step debugging technology.

Attendees will learn how to
develop and maintain code in the S+ Workbench, troubleshoot & optimize S+ code using the S+ Workbench debugger and profiler, create sophisticated graphics using the new S+ 8 graphics framework, develop and deliver portable code using the S+ package system, analyze large datasets using the out-of-memory calculations in the S+ bigdata library.

About the Presenter: Peter Shaw holds Bachelors degrees in Physics, and in Earth & Planetary Sciences from MIT, and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (UC San Diego).

Dr. Shaw was a member of the Scientific Staff at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and subsequently University of Washington, where he has published more than 20 papers on a wide range of data intensive and applied statistical methods.

He is currently a Senior Consultant at Insightful Corporation where he has helped a number of clients across several industries extract valuable knowledge from their data through data mining methods, and has contributed significantly to the Data Mining training course offered by Insightful.
